How to get to the Conference

From central station of Essen to Zollverein School by public transport:

Please take the tram 107 from central station of Essen. Get off at the station "Abzweig Katernberg". The journey lasts 11 stations and will take about 17 minutes. There is a  tram every 10 minutes.

 

From central station of Essen to Zollverein School by taxi:

At the northern front of the central station of Essen, there is a taxi stop. The journey should not take longer than 10 minutes. If you have to call a taxi, you can contact the Taxi-Zentrale Essen under +49/201/19410.

 

How to get to Zollverein School by car:

When parking your car at the conference site, please be sure to take the parking lot "PA2".

 

Please note: Since the street leading to the Zollverein School ("Gelsenkirchener Straße") cannot be accessed due to construction work going on, there are alternative options for reaching the conference site:
  1. If you come to the conference via A 42, turn right at "Bullmannaue" instead of "Gelsenkirchener Straße", from where you should reach parking lot "PA2" directly.
  2. If you arrive at the conference site via A 3 or A 40, you have two options for reaching the conference sites
  • Turn right at the Gelsenkirchener Straße and then follow the redirection signs. Be sure to exit the street at Parking lot "PA2".
  • Take an alternative route: In this case, please turn right  at "Langemarck Straße", then left to enter "Huestraße", left again to enter "Dornbusch-Hegge", right to enter "K.-Meyer Straße" which gives way to the "Ueckendorfer Straße" and finally enter "Gelsenkirchener Straße" again from above. Then turn right into "Halden-Straße" and exit at parking lot "PA2".

Via A 42 from the direction of Dortmund and the direction of Oberhausen/Duisburg

  • Please take the exit "Gelsenkirchen - Hessler".
  • From there, drive in the direction of "Katernberg/Stoppenberg" via "Terneddenstraße".
  • Then drive on straight on the "Schalker Straße". Follow the railroad tracks. After a while, the Schalker Straße changes to "Schonnebeckhöfe".
  • At the bifurcation, please keep to the right .
  • Since the Gelsenkirchener Straße cannot be accessed due to cosntruction work going on, there is an alternative option for reaching the conferenc site: Turn right at "Bullmannaue", from where you should reach Parking lot "PA2" directly.

 

Via A 3 from the direction of Cologne and A 52 from the direction of Düsseldorf 

  • Please take the exit "Essen Frillendorf".
  • From the interchange "Breitscheid" onwards, please take the A52 in the direction of Essen, it changes into A40.
  • Stay on the righ side of the road and take the immediately following exit "Essen-Frillendorf".
  • At the end of the exit turn left at the traffic light in the direction of "Stoppenberg/Katernberg".
  • At the next but one traffic light please turn right to the "Ernestinenstraße".
  • Please note: Since the street leading to the Zollverein School ("Gelsenkirchener Straße") cannot be accessed due to construction work going on, you have two alternative options for reaching the conference site:
  • a) Turn right at the Gelsenkirchener Straße and then  follow the redirection signs. Be sure to exit the street at Parking lot "PA2".
  • b) Take an alternative route. In this case, please turn right at "Langemarck Straße", then left to enter "Huestraße", left again to enter "Dornbusch-Hegge", right to enter "K.-Meyer Straße" which gives way to the "Ueckendorfer Straße" and finally enter "Gelsenkirchener Straße" again from above. Please then turn right into "Halden-Straße" and exit at parking lot "PA2".

Via A 40 from the direction fo Duisburg

  • Please take the exit "Essen Frillendorf".
  • At the end of the exit please turn left in the direction of "Stoppenberg/Katernberg".
  • At the next to one traffic light please turn right into the "Ernestinenstraße" and follow the brown sign that says "Zeche Zollverein".
  • When following the "Ernestinenstraße", you will pass through the suburbs "Frillendorf" and "Stoppenberg".
  • Please note: Since the street leading to the Zollverein School ("Gelsenkirchener Straße") cannot be accessed due to construction work going on, you have two alternative options for reaching the conference site:
  • a) Turn right at the Gelsenkirchener Straße and then  follow the redirection signs. Be sure to exit the street at Parking lot "PA2".
  • b) Take an alternative route. In this case, please turn right at "Langemarck Straße", then left to enter "Huestraße", left again to enter "Dornbusch-Hegge", right to enter "K.-Meyer Straße" which gives way to the "Ueckendorfer Straße" and finally enter "Gelsenkirchener Straße" again from above. Via A 40 from the direction of Dortmund

  • Please take the exit "Essen Frillendorf".

  • At the traffic light, pleae turn right again and enter the "Ernestinenstraße". Please then follow the brown sign that says "Zeche Zollverein".
