Key issues the workshop will explore include:
- how online information tools can be designed to facilitate and inform meaningful changes toward sustainable patterns of production and consumption?
- what innovative online formats are available to enable transparency in product and corporate performance?
- how can applications be designed to be consistent with the evolution of the internet, its users, their behaviour and interests?
- what drives the development towards open and structured data on sustainability performance?
- how can online eco-marketing be useful for millions of organizations and individuals who want to gather and demonstrate their sustainability commitments, impacts and products?
The discussion will be connected to an ambitious real world project called dot eco that aims to utilize the infrastructure of the internet itself to provide a natural “home” for sustainability information online.
Communication for Sustainable Products and Services

This project incubator will explore the question of understanding promising and effective communication methods to create public awareness and acceptance for Sustainable Products and
Services.
Key issues the workshop will explore include:
- the importance of communication as one of the main “soft instruments” necessary to develop demand for Sustainable Products and Services.
- product labelling and business perspectives on what it means to design and communicate a sustainable products
- innovative exhibition concepts designed for sustainable product
- the application of different communication media, in particular photography, for promoting resource efficiency.
Competing for Sustainable Lifestyles

The Project Incubator will elaborate opportunities for internet-based online sustainable lifestyle competitions between school classes, company departments or other groups and communication of
sustainable consumption practices in everyday lives.
Key issues the workshop will explore include:
- a training package to illustrate concepts of sustainable consumption as a kick off for each competition
- a web 2.0 based online application to measure the level of sustainable consumption among competition participants
- effective communication of sustainable consumption in everyday life.
Striving for Resource and Climate Culture
Project Incubator conducted by Wuppertal Institute / GREEN LAB
This project incubator will address the complexity of “resource and climate cultures“ and discuss differences in socio-economic and cultural consumer patterns.
Key issues the workshop will explore include:
- changes in life- and consumption styles that can be expected and achieved in different social milieus
- research projects and infrastructures or experimental sites/concepts necessary to develop new solution strategies that support lifecycle wide resource effi ciency and sustainable products and services
- development of concrete concepts for practical innovations and projects with aim of combining forces for implementation.
Transfer of Resource Efficient Technology

This project incubator is intended to serve as a networking incubator to discuss ideas, examples and solutions from the BrainLab sessions in more detail.
Key issues the workshop will explore include:
- sensible and realistic project concepts and cooperation opportunities with a focus on the transfer of resource efficient technology
- evaluation of potential project partners and funding options
- success factors, barriers, partners and skills required for potential projects
- global scale networking among UNIDO‘s cleaner production centres.
