Around 200 representatives from policy, business, technology, design, research and the civil society participated in the sessions: at two Panel Sessions, at five Brain Labs and at three Project Incubators.
The program for this highly interactive and participatory two days conference included informative speakers, presentations, workshops (Brain Labs and Project Incubators) and focused on related lifestyle developments, policy issues, technologies and design concepts.
The event also included several exhibitions and a creative sustainability themed music performance.

Brain Labs
The objective of the workshops was to foster the cross-linking of knowledge among participants when working on content related questions. On the second day an interactive presentation wrapped-up results of the Brain Labs by building a bridge to the implementation level.

Project Incubators
The conference provided a forum for brainstorming and planning sessions (Project Incubators) to develop and scope innovative projects and new collaboration opportunities as concrete conference outcomes.
The objective was to strengthen the conference impact by giving participants the opportunity to actively shape project ideas.

Zollverein Zollverein Zollverein School
The Zollverein World Cultural Heritage Site was formerly known as the “most beautiful coal mine in the world“ and is now the best-known industrial monument and centre of the creative economy in the Ruhr Area.
In 2001 Zollverein was inscribed into the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. The watchword is: preservation through new usage.
